Even as a child, pre-school, I would “dictate” stories
to my mother to jot down on paper accompanied by my Crayola
drawings. As a teenager, I fashioned morose, melodramatic
poetry, ensuring everyone was aware of my angst. When I
became an adult [?] I settled into more conventional writing
that ultimately morphed into writing professionally for,
among other things, food and shelter.
Writing is business, solitary and concentrated, a methodical
and organic occupation--a business.
My muse? Well, hunger does it for me; include car insurance,
a vacation, an HMO—you get the picture--but even more, a
client's satisfaction and the occasional affirmation of
a byline.
Warm regards from Boston,
Dorothy

Born in Boston (U.S.A.), D.V. Malcolm is a
baby boomer, former U.S. Air Force wife (read:
gypsy, nomad ) and unrepentant Anglophile. Having
moved 20 times in 17 years, lived in England for nine, traveled
the U.S. and Europe, she has finally hung her hat for the
past 19 years in the Boston suburb of Braintree, just eight
miles south of the capitol city.
A writer by profession, interior designer by vocation,
and amateur anthropologist by default, she is the mother
of one daughter and three (unashamedly adored) grandchildren.
Family life and heritage is paramount to her. She works
on the written word, spends time with family, researches
everything she fancies, entertains, travels, "does"
eBay, gets a kick out of British comedies, and is enjoying
a revitalized midlife with her grandchildren.
